Hello & welcome...
Hello and welcome to my blog, my name is Saskia Hutton and I have researched, planned and created a print production of my own as part of my As media course.
My college centre number is - 25200
My candidate number is - 7299
I have produced a music magazine based around pop and chart music, as well as it being a 'festival edition'. I decided to make it a festival edition so it is different and fun. I have really enjoyed this project and it has enabled me to use lots of different softwares I hadn't used before.
I hope you enjoy exploring my blog!
Draft analysis
This was my first edit of the cover page of my magazine. I didn't choose this one over my second edit because it is lacking in detail and presentation. As well as this, it does not include typical magazine conventions such as a barcode which my final cover page does. My final piece also has more of a festival feel to it and is a lot more eye-catching. I created my magazine using the software, photoshop.

Update - 20/1/16
In today's lesson I have been planning my articles that will be featured on the double page spread in my magazine. I have themed the articles around festivals and useful tips. I have also set out how the presentation of my production will look. I have done this so I am organised and know exactly what I'm doing.

Online tutorials and responses - 19/1/16
As I was not very confident on knowing how to upload my final pitch video onto my blog, I watched an online tutorial which described step by step how to embed the video from the software I used which was Vimeo. From this tutorial it enabled me to upload my video onto my blog without getting confused and now I also know what to do for next time. Apart from this, I mainly asked for help on how to use certain softwares from students in my media class, as that way I found it easier to understand and see in person how it works.

Institutional regulations - 14/1/16
Regulations and legal issues I need to bear in mind whilst making my production is to make sure all images I use are my own images taken by myself and that I have not taken them from the internet. I also need to ensure the masthead of my magazine has been thought of and made up by me and I have not used it from an existing magazine. Every element of my magazine needs to have been made up and created by myself only and I haven't used anyone else's ideas. I must avoid including any type of discrimination such as religion, ethnicity and physical or mental disabilities. This is important so none of my potential audience feel isolated or discriminated against.

Costumes/Props - 13/1/16
Clothing is festival inspired because part of the theme of the magazine is festivals. The clothing is summery due to the weather being hot. Therefore the models are wearing shorts, tops, dresses etc. The clothing is sourced from high street shops such as topshop, river island and miss Selfridge. In a few of the pictures, one model has a face paint design which is festival inspired to fit the theme more. Props weren't really necessary as everything that I needed was already in the background scene.

social networking audience research
Preliminary task - 12/1/16
In today's double lesson I am going to start the preliminary task which is to produce a front cover page of a magazine themed around school students. So far I have taken an image of a student in my media class which I will be using for the main image. I have also decided to use publisher to create the cover page. In terms of the masthead, I have decided to call it 'Student Life' as it fits in with the theme and connotes that the magazine will be about the life of a student and possible exam stress etc.

Final Research - 5/1/16
Final research I conducted towards the planning of my production was the layout of the contents page and double page spread etc. Which helped me to ensure I have enough knowledge of presenting my magazine before I start the final piece.
